Moriori occurs as Malayo-Polynesian language most closely related to Maori. These are a native language of the Moriori, the autochthonal peoples of the Chatham Islands.

Although a few sources listings it as an out language, there exists occasionally doubt all about this. More sources claim these are however spoken by a handful of people in a Chathams & the mainl& by having a great degree of fluency, and that virtually all Moriori understand the basic principles.

A Moriori title for the Chathams is "Rekohu".
